With work progressing in various areas within 50019, we have started to ramp up projects necessary in returning the locomotive to traffic as soon as possible. The CU1 is basically the brains of the locomotive and as 019 has been standing for some 12 years since withdrawal, we opted to have the unit plus a spare from our stores to undergo testing and repair (if necessary).

We have been fortunate to have both units being looked over by Benjamin Spracklen. Both units have been put through a test rig and both are fully operational, though one does have a slight lower voltage output but otherwise performs to the electrical specification in the testing schedule, even though it shows both units working, they really need to be tested inside a locomotive to fully ensure that everything is correct. But it's great to see that both units are working.
